At STE(A)M Truck, we believe that hands-on learning builds community, collaboration, and creativity. One of the most powerful examples of this in our curriculum is the Geodesic Dome build.  Initially starting with simple materials like straws and pipe cleaners, this project has evolved to incorporate robust tubing and 3D-printed connectors, offering students a more realistic view of construction techniques.

STE(A)M Truck taps Dr. Marsha Francis, a nationally recognized educational leader, to drive the organization’s delivery of STEAM educational equity across Metro Atlanta.

The Youth Commission is a leadership program designed to involve youth from various socioeconomic backgrounds and multicultural neighborhoods with opportunities to have their voice heard in their communities.

LEGO Education, which is represented by a “passionate group of educators from around the world who believe that play and exploration build successful life-long learners,” is offering a new program aimed at helping teachers create the best possible learning environment for their students this year — whether it be in-person or online.

STE(A)M Truck provides a mobile makerspace where kids have the opportunity to make and create – a place where some tools, materials, and enough expertise and guidance can get them started. The STE(A)M Truck makerspace combines aspects of the shop class, home economics class, the art studio and science labs

Executive Director Jason Martin explains the history behind STE(A)M truck, his personal ties to the movement, the importance of STEAM education and where we’re headed from here!

STEAM is a progression of the original STEM acronym, plus one additional element: art. Why the change? The integration of the arts into STEM learning has allowed educators to expand the benefits of hands-on education and collaboration in a variety of was, promoting creativity and curiosity at the core. But before we get to that, let’s first look at the evolution of STEM to STEAM.

For our organization, we can promise you that we are examining, addressing and implementing ways to ensure that every individual in our community feels welcomed, safe, heard and respected. However, this journey is not yet complete.
