Why Volunteer with STE(A)M Truck?

Make an Impact That Matters

When you volunteer with STE(A)M Truck, you're not just checking a box or logging hours. You're directly shaping how Georgia students see themselves and their possibilities.

You might be the first engineer a student ever meets. The first person who tells them "you could do this job someday." The mentor who shows them that people who look like them belong in STEAM fields.

And you'll get just as much as you give. Our volunteers consistently tell us working with curious, creative young people is the highlight of their month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need STEAM experience to volunteer? A: Not necessarily! While STEAM backgrounds are helpful for program volunteers, we have roles for people with all kinds of skills. Event support, administrative help, and skills-based volunteering don't require technical knowledge.

Q: How much time do I need to commit? A: It depends on the role. Event volunteers can do one-time 3-hour shifts. Program volunteers typically commit to monthly sessions. Skills-based projects vary. We'll work with your schedule.

Q: Can high school students volunteer? A: Yes! Volunteers ages 16-17 can participate with parent permission. These are great opportunities for students interested in education, STEM fields, or community service.

Q: Will I receive training? A: Absolutely. We provide training on equipment, safety protocols, and working with diverse youth. We want you to feel confident and prepared.

Q: Can I volunteer as a group? A: Yes! We welcome corporate teams, student groups, and community organizations. Contact us to plan a group volunteer experience.

Q: Is there a background check? A: Yes—volunteers working with students must complete a background check, which we cover. This protects students and gives families peace of mind.
